Looking to add some fun to your photography? Then check out the PENTAX DA 10-17mm Fish-Eye Lens.
I was looking to add a more creative lens to my collection that would allow me to get unique one-of-a-kind photographs. I searched flickr lens groups and eventually found the Pentax DA Fisheye 10-17mm group. I instantly fell in love with the types of photographs that people were taking with this lens, so I made the purchase.
With a focal range of 10-17mm you can vary the amount of distortion you can achieve with this lens. At 10mm you will notice some extreme distortion, but at 17mm the affect is less pronounced. In the above shot I placed the horizon almost in the middle of the frame to lessen the fisheye affect. Using this lens there are only two perfectly strait planes, the middle vertical and middle horizontal.

Although this lens is a little pricey at about $500, it is a welcome addition to my lens collection. It is very fun to experiment with, and gives you some photographic opportunities that would otherwise be impossible. Although if overused in your portfolio all your photographs will start to look the same. Regardless, the PENTAX DA 10-17mm Fish-Eye Lens is a fun lens for anyone looking to experiment with an extreme wide angle and fisheye distortion.
