Like many others I have waited this long to get into the exciting world of digital SLR photography. Its taken this long because I have always been waiting for the “right” camera for me. A camera that would be easy for beginners to pick up and get started, yet still capable of advanced picture taking. I never really got that excited about any of the entry level cameras that were coming onto the market over the years until I read my first preview of the Pentax K-x on a tech blog. I promptly browsed to Pentax’s website and watched the introduction video to the K-x. I was hooked. This camera was the one for me, I could feel it.

The day the K-x came out I decided to head down to the closest camera shop, which for me happened to be J&R in lower Manhattan. I walked in to see if they had them in stock. They did! I looked at the camera but for some reason was still reluctant to purchase the camera. I mean this is still a lot of money to spend (at least to me). I left the store K-x less.

The next day I thought about going back and purchasing that camera. Eventually I was convinced that I should just go do it. It would be a step towards getting into digital SLR photography and possibly a hobby that I would really enjoy. By this time J&R was only going to be open for another hour, and I live about 35 minutes away by train in Brooklyn. I put on my jacket and literally started running towards the nearest train so I could get there on time. Anytime I am about to make a large purchase I get anxious, and this was no different. I showed up at the J&R camera shop with about 15 minutes before close. At this point I was anxious and sweating from my hurried journey to Manhattan. I walked in and told the salesperson that he was about to make his easiest sale of the day.

This time I left the store with a new Pentax K-x and a smile on my face the entire way home, just waiting to open it up and start shooting/playing. From the first time I held my new camera I knew that I was about to take a big step into the creative world of photography, and the K-x helped me do it. I fell in love with both photography and my new camera.

The Pentax K-x is geared towards people who are new to digital SLR photography, and perfect for those who want to bolster their creativity. It is a great entry point into the craft, and a creative tool that has changed my life.

After spending some time with my new camera I saw that there were a lot of other people really excited about their new cameras and their new love for photography. With this realization, I wanted to start a place where advice can be traded that is specific to the Pentax K-x and all its accompanying accessories. So here it is…. kxuser.com.

I live in Brooklyn transplanted from Colorado. I went to school for architecture/design, and love all things digital. When I purchased my first digital SLR I fell in love with photography and we have been courting ever since. My goal is to become a professional photographer.
