I am sure that you are all familiar with this by this product by now, if you want to call it that. It is of course the iPhone 4 and I would hardly call it a “product”, it is more of a technological beautiful achievement. So of course I pre ordered it on the first day, and actually received it a day early. As excited as I was to play with the new features the first thing I did was stick it in the white box and get some shots of it with the Pentax. Here is what I did… Read the rest of this entry »

Lets face it, the white Pentax K-x looks like a stormtrooper with its white body and black detailing. This is the camera that a stormtrooper would take with him on vacation. To take it one step further, Flickr user ellarsee has created a gallery of creative product shots featuring the white Pentax K-x and a little something else … Read the rest of this entry »

I am not a master of filming video, but would love to get a little bit more into it. To be able to have a digital SLR camera and an HD video camera in one is really cool. I have to try to shoot some more video and make something creative. In the meantime I was bumming around Vimeo and found a K-x user video group. Check it out here.

All the new entry level digital SLR cameras include the ability to shoot HD video. This opens up an entirely different creative world to digital SLR owners. The nice thing about having a video capable digital SLR is that you can switch the lens whenever you want, opening up your options for what you want to shoot. Tonight I decided to finally go out and test the HD video capability of the Pentax K-x. This is an example of how the Pentax K-x handles at night using the Pentax DA 10-17mm fisheye zoom lens. Video after the jump… Read the rest of this entry »

Birds at Sunset from Munn Brothers Productions on Vimeo.

I was looking for cool examples of video shot with the Pentax K-x and stumbled upon this. Its beautiful and really shows what you can do with the Pentax K-x in video mode! I am curious as to what lens was used and what sort of post production was done. Enjoy!

Update: I just received a follow up comment from Munn Brothers Productions about their lens and post production equipment. They used an Asahi K-Mount F1.7 lens and used a program called Magic Bullet for post production.

If you are putting a new camera on the market these days, you better include the capability to shoot HD video. Most of the consumer/prosumer digital SLR cameras have the feature to shoot video now, but I was always curious as to what you could actually create while shooting with a digital SLR with a range of lenses. Well Pentax has done that using the K-7, and the DA 10-17mm fisheye, DA* 16-50mm and DA* 60-250mm lenses. The results are really very impressive. Watch them after the jump! HDR photography is all the rage right now. If you haven’t heard of it yet, do a flickr image search for HDR. Pretty cool right? Basically an HDR photo is a composite photo of three (or more) photographs of the same scene. One underexposed (this picture captures very nice highlight detail), one exposed normally (this picture captures good detail of the entire scene) , and one overexposed (this picture captures good shadow detail). These three photos are then combined into Read the rest of this entry »
