Camera noise. Basically that “grainy” look that you get in a photograph in low light and high ISO situations. The Pentax K-x has a noise reduction feature and a maximum ISO of 12800 (wow), it manages noise pretty well at high ISOs. I agree that noise can be a distraction on some photographs (landscapes, portraits, etc) but what if you want a “grainy” look. Well, I tried it out. Read the rest of this entry »

There seems to be a lot of people excited and curious about the Pentax K-x and its built in HDR mode, but there are few examples online that actually show a comparison between a normal jpeg, a Pentax K-x HDR photo, and an auto-bracketed exposure post processed with Photomatix. Well, here it is…

I am not a master of filming video, but would love to get a little bit more into it. To be able to have a digital SLR camera and an HD video camera in one is really cool. I have to try to shoot some more video and make something creative. In the meantime I was bumming around Vimeo and found a K-x user video group. Check it out here.
Photography is so much about community. Even more specifically, I feel that I can really relate to others that use similar gear to me. There is a great online resource to ask other Pentax users their thoughts on just about anything camera or photography related. The Pentax Forums. Check it out, lots of very helpful people here.
There is no doubt that the internet is a wealth of knowledge. Any information that you need to know can be found online by searching through millions of websites. This is the problem. With so much information it is sometimes difficult to find good, reliable, accurate resources. Whats a good photography website? Here is one of the good online photography resources that I have found.
