I was in Manhattan today doing a photo walk and decided that I would go try my hand at taking a picture in Grand Central station again. I went up on the balcony and set my camera on the ledge and started shooting. Finally I got all the settings correct and got this shot. By the time I finished and turned around there were about five other people with nice digital SLR cameras waiting to snag my spot!
There seems to be a lot of people excited and curious about the Pentax K-x and its built in HDR mode, but there are few examples online that actually show a comparison between a normal jpeg, a Pentax K-x HDR photo, and an auto-bracketed exposure post processed with Photomatix. Well, here it is…

Went to the American Natural History Museum in Manhattan today with my girlfriend. Took a bunch of shots of bones and dioramas. Haha, this one turned out pretty neat, and Giraffes are my favorite animal so this made the daily shot, and its Friday so… Take a shot!
HDR photography is all the rage right now. If you haven’t heard of it yet, do a flickr image search for HDR. Pretty cool right? Basically an HDR photo is a composite photo of three (or more) photographs of the same scene. One underexposed (this picture captures very nice highlight detail), one exposed normally (this picture captures good detail of the entire scene) , and one overexposed (this picture captures good shadow detail).
